SLS launched the application for the Summer 2022 Sustainable Communities Summer Internship two weeks ago, and the application process is open through Friday, February 4th.  This internship program provides student interns with practical experience in supporting solutions for sustainable communities through real-world experience with community partners in Atlanta and throughout Georgia.  Please see our website for additional information and the application.  This week, we are pleased to share another reflection from a Summer 2021 intern, Jonathan Yun.

Jonathan Yun, B.S. Aerospace Engineering

Partner: The LIFE School

I had the opportunity to intern at The LIFE School, a small pre-K to high school in downtown Atlanta that is innovating education with a project-based curriculum and emphasis on real world experience. I developed lesson plans for math and Python classes, wrote grant applications for robotics and graphic design opportunities, and was a STEM instructor while we hosted the STEM from Dance program.

I’m extremely grateful to Serve Learn Sustain for the internship. My first college summer was not only productive, but fulfilling. SLS allowed me to dive deep into a community in Atlanta and contribute to the city’s needs and goals. Using my experience and talents to edify The LIFE School students and the girls from STEM from Dance helped me realize that my education in the engineering field can be applied to things far beyond myself.
