Prof. Jonathan Colton’s research and teaching interests are at the intersections of global/international development and design, manufacturing. His humanitarian design and engineering research is focused on agricultural mechanization in sub-Saharan Africa, such as lad preparation, planting, harvesting, and post-harvest processing of crops. This work include developing in-country capabilities for fabrication, service, and maintenance of the equipment to improve local economies and job opportunities.
