Vertically Integrated Project: Civic Data and Design

The purpose of this course is to research and develop information, communication, and media systems to address regional civic issues, using techniques from design, computing, and social sciences, in collaboration with government and community partners.  These systems will have real-world impact, and promote social sustainability, equity, and justice.

Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics plays a critical role in the development of new systems which provide energy, reduce waste, and mitigate global climate change. This course will provide you with the fundamental skills necessary to develop strategies to solve a range of emerging engineering based problems. This will be done through first learning how to solve problems form a systems perspective, and secondly through understanding the mechanisms used to transfer, convert and store energy. While doing this, we will also explore how sustainability is factored in when designing energy systems.

Student Learning Outcome 4 Rubric

The goal of this rubric is to assess the ways that students understand, apply, and communicate how their discipline can inform others to enhance community sustainability.
