During the 2016-2017 year, students enrolled in a Sustainable Systems Design course mapped out the food and material waste streams on campus. With guidance from a Campus Services Sustainability Program Manager, the students’ findings were applied to the development of a zero-waste pilot program in West Village commons and dining area. This program now services all of West Village in the pursuit of reducing waste across the board. In coordination with Georgia Tech's CEISMC program, this pilot brought real world knowledge to high schoolers and taught them how to expand what they had learned to their own communities.
